A 40M-dollar company providing web hosting and collocation services worldwide. Affinity is the result of the merger of CyberGate/Valueweb (a subsidiary of E.spire) and Affinity Internet in January of 2002. CyberGate was the largest regional ISP in Florida and sold the dialup business to Eartlink in October of 2000. Affinity was a consolidation of low end hosting companies. I joined the CyberGate team first as a contract Systems Engineer (Signature Consultants) and was subsequently offered a permanent position. Shortly thereafter promoted to Manager of Quality Assurance and later to the Director of Engineering. Managed System Administration, Development, System Engineering, Network Engineering and Quality Control. The E.spire division CyberGate/Valueweb remained profitable throughout the dot com debacle due to a combination of discreet marketing, skillful engineering and operations management.
Director of Engineering
Transformed a 10M ISP into a 40M hosting and collocation business while maintaining profitability. Placing Valueweb in the top 10 hosting companies in the US.
Successful implementation of large-scale (2 million users) e-mail system.
Relocated data centers from San Francisco and Baltimore consisting of over 1800 servers without customer impact.
Launched new products including collocation and dedicated servers on time and within budget.
Responded to marketing with a "Yes" when presented with a 14-day deadline for wholesale hosting services. The solution exceeded the customer’s expectations resulting in Valueweb winning 1.2 million dollars in recurring revenue in the face of heavy competition.
